Northern Roots Music

Recording, Round Two

We’re so excited to let y’all know that we are back in the recording studio!

This time, we’re going to be at the absolutely gorgeous Blackbird Productions in Lakeville, MA. We spent a Saturday putting engineer Jason Kimball through the ringer getting set up, and tracking starts on 1/17. We’re honored to be a part of a project that was started by Paul Hutchinson by working in this space.

On day one, we lugged equipment, set up mics on the drum kit, amps, and acoustics, and ran a bunch of very interesting sound checks to make sure we’re ready to hit the ground running on Thursday night. We’re ready. We also played pinball, got in Jason’s way, hung out wth producer David Roy (The Allstonians), and had a ton of laughs.

The first song on our list is 44° North, which was written by Mike Enos not long after we released Autumn. It’s a natural response in many ways to Boréale, the final track on the first record. The second song we’ll track is likely going to be Song for Mary. After that, it’s anyone’s guess. Our friends at Bog Iron Brewing have some ideas, and have even extended a bribe or two.

As we make our way down this road, we’ll be sure to post lots of photos, videos, and even some demo audio for you to check out. Thank you, everyone, for your ongoing support.
